  The German airship, "Graf Zeppelin," began its "Round-the-World" (Weltrundfahrt) flight from Lakehurst, New Jersey that circumnavigated the globe. The trip was made at the behest of American newspaper publisher William Randolph Hearst, whose media empire was the major commercial backer of the "Graf Zeppelin."
