Events occurring on Thursday, August 29, 1929  
  The Middle East Before WW2  
  Large scale riots ended in Palestine between Arabs and Jews. The fighting erupted after a dispute regarding Jewish use of the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem. 116 Arabs and 198 Jews were killed.  
   
  In Other News  
  The German airship, "Graf Zeppelin," ended its "Round-the-World" (Weltrundfahrt) flight that circumnavigated the globe at Lakehurst, New Jersey. The trip was made at the behest of American newspaper publisher William Randolph Hearst, whose media empire was the major commercial backer of the "Graf Zeppelin."
