  The Rome-Berlin Axis  
  German Chancellor Adolf Hitler began an official state visit to Rome. Italian Prime Minister Benito Mussolini would provide an impressive state reception to demonstrate the solidarity of the Rome-Berlin Axis.  
   
  The Middle East Before WW2  
  Sir Harold MacMichael arrived in Palestine and replaced Sir Arthur Wauchope as the High Commissioner for Palestine. MacMichael’s appointment represented a more draconian occupation as the British increased the number of troops in the mandate to 30,000 in an effort to repress continuing political disorder.
