  The British and French governments signed a mutual assistance pact with the Polish government, promising that the British and French would send military aid to Poland in the event of a German attack.  
The United States and Great Britain agreed to hold Kanton, an atoll located in the South Pacific Ocean roughly halfway between Hawaii and Fiji, under joint control for the next forty years as the Canton and Enderbury Islands condominium.
